Base car.

1992 Corrdo g60 in Flash( Lol) red.

My ulitmate aim is a ghetto 2.0 litre 16vg60 build running MS.

I'm just going to add little bits each day to this thread. It will be nice to have it documented somewhere, like a diary.

MS setup:

I am running the Vanilla MS2 code.Running fuel and spark.MS is triggered off the stock digifant Hall sender trigger and uses the Onboard vb921 to fire the standard g60 coil.

I shunted shedloads of fluid through each corner with the rear valve regulator fully actuated.

I have bled the whole system before without too much trouble using the same equipment so I must conclude that it is because the new components i have introduced into the system, namely the wilwood brakes as I have tried every corrado brake bleeding method ever posted on the internet.

Picked this 166k 1.8 valver up from Gav and Nikki, for the princely sum of 300 squid. To say I'm pleased is an understatement! Engine sounds sweet as a nut and the interior is mint. First job is to get it MOT'd then we'll see what changes take place....

Was chatting with a colleague at work today about Megasquirt and he asked me why I wasn't using a G400 ECU out a *******! I hadn't even thought about it to be fair, but we (Pi Shurlok) have in the past sold G400s with a full software development platform. Obviously we don't sell those ECUs now as they have been discontinued, but second hand ones are easy to come by. We even have some existing strategies that can be used.

Been thinking about sequential injection. Megasquirt can support it (with some mods) and I was wondering what could be used as a cam position sensor. Could a dizzy be used as it has a hall sensor in it? The only thing I can see as a problem is of course you can adjust a dizzy for timing, so thus you could do the same fro the cam position sensor. This of course isn't really desirable, so has anyone got any suggestions on how else to implement a cam position sensor on a 16v head? Also is a normal ...

Ok, so prompted by a thread on another forum....what say you to traction control? What's required? ABS sensors? VR or Hall type? Would you want to cut spark or fuel, or both? I did wonder how it is achieved in modern cars, but I suspect it is more along the lines of closing the electronic throttle, rather than fuel or spark?? I guess with the likes of aftermarket engine ECUs, you could configure one of the digital inputs to take a signal from a.n.other 'traction control' ECU. I wondered how complex ...

Thought I'd post a pic of my expensive paper weight. Sadly no progress has been made in at least the last year although I did pick up a 16v alternator bracket off Mr Waldron the other day so that'll be going on sometime soon. Slow and steady wins the race I always say, although a car to put it in would be nice.

Turbo is a TB03 off a 2wd saph cossie and the manifold is an ATP cast jobbie

I'd recommend one with a 1/2" square drive and you can get some with around 300lb ft torque for reasonable money.

I tell you where I find them useful....... removing and dismantling front struts. Saves hours!

This is the one I use - http://www.tooled-up.com/Product.asp?PID=26835

You can get cheaper ones though

Given the weather has been keeping me of the car for a bit, I've been hunting round for new toys, and come across some people using stock sized but lightweight pulleys. However there seems to be as much bad press for these as good. I can understand how underdrive crank pulleys would be bad for the G60 as it would reduce the charger speed, but what about light weight versions in standard sizes? Is the harmonic damper really that crucial as I've had the engine rebuilt and balanced? Answers ...

*** This has been moved from another forum so if it don't make sense in parts please ignore. Cheers Chris ****

Hello,

Seems like the place to be for my build. This is an Audi 3A block based engine. It's commonly referred to as a bubble block as it's effectively a 1.8 pb code or similar casting with enough room for a 92.8 mm crank.

Bit of history.......

I bought my G60 back in Sept 2005 and spent lot's of money restoring and replacing the brakes suspension and running gear ...

Twin Charging.....super and turbo....the 'Superbocharged'

Ok, so we've talked a little about twin turbo setups, now, I think we need to discuss supercharger and turbo setups! The reason I ask, is because a few people have said that twin turboing a 16v wont give me what I want, and that's plenty of torque low down, and I still fancy a challenge

So, for example, take a 2.0l 16v engine, strap an Eaton M62 and say a GT28 to it. how would you go about routing the charge? Into the Eaton first then on to the Turbo would be the most logical, but once ...

Ok, so we all know that if you stick a turbot on an engine, you need to lower the compression. My question is....why do you need to lower the compression? You can fit a Vortech charger to a VR without lowering compression, so why not a turbot?
