Well, thought I start a fresh thread for the new motor! Meet Gooney, son of Badcrumble!

Picked this 166k 1.8 valver up from Gav and Nikki, for the princely sum of 300 squid. To say I'm pleased is an understatement! Engine sounds sweet as a nut and the interior is mint. First job is to get it MOT'd then we'll see what changes take place....

Right then, it runs, it's had the CO and timing set to stock G60 numbers and is idleing nicely around 800 rpm. Compression is good at .2 bar variation max accross the cylinders and despite my inability to open the throttle during the comp testing it's a minimum of 8 bar.

Thought I'd post a pic of my expensive paper weight. Sadly no progress has been made in at least the last year although I did pick up a 16v alternator bracket off Mr Waldron the other day so that'll be going on sometime soon. Slow and steady wins the race I always say, although a car to put it in would be nice.

Turbo is a TB03 off a 2wd saph cossie and the manifold is an ATP cast jobbie

Hello,

Seems like the place to be for my build. This is an Audi 3A block based engine. It's commonly referred to as a bubble block as it's effectively a 1.8 pb code or similar casting with enough room for a 92.8 mm crank.

Bit of history.......

I bought my G60 back in Sept 2005 and spent lot's of money restoring and replacing the brakes suspension and running gear ...

It's fuelled by LPG, and turbine driven with a single stage turbine.

There is loads that I would change; I would use one large boiler instead of twelve small ones which have to be balanced at 400 degrees- so well into superheated steam. This would also make the car a lot lighter ...

Stu's been on at me for a while to get a thread up, so here goes...

Back in June 2007 I was working in Fareham and kept noticing a white corrado VR6 in a car park, as the weeks went on, I noticed it didn't move, then it's tyres began to get soft.

One night I dropped in, gave it a snuffle over and left a note on the windscreen asking to buy it. The next morning I had a call, turned out that the VR had been taken in Part Ex by the car sales place opposite, and they couldn't sell it. They'd ...

So, everyone knows I have a plum in bits - that's last year's news and hence why there are no pics or even whispers of it on the OU.

Much more interestingly, is what I'm getting my hands dirty with at Uni. A whole host of different design and material assignments. Allow me to indulge your senses:

Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRPs for short) Materials Report

Undertaken in late November 08, I have been manufacturing in a small group some carbon fibre laminates, and more recently ...

ok easier for me to post lots of pics but basic idea was, get standard KR, stack the headgaskets and build a 16v g60, i then had major g-lader problems and ended up buying a bbm lysholm.

heres the pics

Heres the engine straight out of a 16v corrado 1.8 139bhp

This is where i need to drill the block for oil return from the charger

Project GigaSquirt

Recently I've been doing a lot of reading up on various engine management systems trying to find something suitable for my rather tricky application. My application being a supercharged VR6 which has an after market LPG system fitted. Lots of systems come close but I just don't feel any will fully satisfy my needs.

Having looked in detail at megasquirt I was quite surprised how simple it really is, therefore I have decided to start project Gigasquirt.

My aim is to put this project together ...

Well thought best to add another project to the list.

Here it is

So this is the daily that will not be getting modified so on day 8 of ownership it gets a new gear knob, the Forge "Big Knob", you can see where this is going already.

So day 15 it then gets a Forge SplitR DV and a Mishimoto carbon fibre intake

Then im sure you can all guess what is next on the "typical" list/route of modifying. Yup its the ...

About 4 years ago I used to have a nice 318is and sold it to get something cheaper, I'd always wanted a Corrado and so with bugger all knowledge I bought the first one that I saw. Not a smart move really, but I'm so pleased I did as it's been a great experience and truly a labour of love. Anyway, enough prattle here's a few pics to show the work I've done.

Engine Specs:

1990 Corrado 16V

Megasquirt V3

Ford EDIS ignition control

Standard KR cams

Gasflowed head

ARP headstuds

Not a major project but one nevertheless, im not that technical so like to keep things simple - any problems i have usually involve Mr Millspeed helping me out but thought id post up my plans here

Currently own a 2003 Impreza STi Type-UK with Prodrive Performance Pack, pushing out around 305bhp. She is standard apart from a K&N panel filter i have put in. Gave her a bit of TLC lately and she has had 4 new tyres, full oil & filter service, new plugs, front and rear diff checked ...
