Right then i have just quickly converted the Nm figure to torque, to show the actual torque figures as in my eyes it is a good torque curve but the graph makes it look short and peaky when its down to the torque peaking so high in the 1st place.

As can be seen i have a minimum of 260lb/ft between 3000rpm > 6000rpm, now at 2500rpm its 166lb/ft which is the same as a G Lader peak torque and quite close to a pullied, chipped and flowed charger, and right on the limiter its still doing more than the previously mentioned set up. For the torque to double in 1000rpm between 2500rpm > 3500rpm as it comes on boost you can imagine the problems i have with traction in 1st and 2nd Smile hence why i need longer gearing and quite possibly i may be trying the CTN as a cheap alternative to the VR6 set up, i think i have made my mind up.

RPM = lb/ft
2500 = 166
3000 = 258
3500 = 317
4000 = 332
4500 = 339
5000 = 317
5500 = 291
6000 = 258
6500 = 239

On the 2 seperate graphs with red lines they are the same dyno run from my engine, just shows you how different they can look to the eye as in the 2nd graph it looks like it has more torque for longer compared to the 1st graph even though they are identical runs.

So again Green line is torque, Black line is BHP

So when do you expect to have it back on the road, Si? Are you going for the cross-flow head as well?

Well the new parts have arrived, the new exhaust manifold looks and feels loads better, not offered it up to the old 1 yet to see the differences and what i need to modify to fit it so hopefully shall see at the weekend.

The cross flow is on the back burner for now, when i put it into a mk1 race car then i shall do it then i think.

Got any pics of the two manifolds side by side? Was the original manifold a Jabba one?

I still think you should fit a cross-flow head. As the one you've got is off, why not?

No pics the other is in the garage, they are both Jabba manifolds but 2 different designs.

Yes the head is off but i need to source a new crossflow head, big valve it, cam it etc, modify 1 of the waterways or oil i cant remember what exactly, new pipework, new custom inlet manifold, the list goes on tbh, i dont have the money for it yet.

So hopefully getting the mk1 after crimbo if the guy sells it me, [mk1 GTI Campaign '83] then concentrate on doing it then as it will be a full on track car and the bare minimum road legalness.

Ah, I see! Bloody hell though, your engine in a mk1! That WILL be fun.

So the cross-flow head isn't just a straight swap then? I was under the impression it dropped straight on to the PG block. I realise that you'd need new inlet and pipework etc.

As far as i know it will drop straight on with the aforementioned modification, as far as i know its simple to do it just needs welding up then figuring out the gaskets.

Yea it should be bloody awesome hopefully, literally everything stripped dash the lot, think like BIG DUB style, weld in cage [which i think is a must], stiffen the old chassis nicely for the power and the safety net it will give. hahaha

If its still going ahead then its April's calendar pic too.

Right then had a couple of days getting it back together and its officially fixed to the point where the actual broken bit is on lol, managed to get the inlet/exhaust manifolds back on with turbo and wastegate actuator, waiting for correct head gasket to arrive then the work continues.

So the exhaust manifold needed modifying, basically its been designed to be the manifold for the turbo diesel conversion they do as well as fit the G60, so the turbo mounting flange is a different shape now which means 1 inlet manifold will not fit, dremel'd down to clear, plenty of metal to remove safely, just required a notch taking out. Also the studs to mount the turbo needed shortening to clear the downpipe and to bolt down tight.

It's getting there albeit slowly but time is on my side fortunatly, and what a bloody good day it's been today.

do your wheels have a dish, Si? Or are they kinda all the same face? If so, why not go body colour on the centres?

Not enough of a dish tbh and if they had stepped dish then it would make the centre smaller so it would then look ok to go body coloured but im not into that i just want it to look mean and track inspired.

I want BBS CH's in the black they do but they only come in 18" but i can get the CH's in 17" in silver but im not sure if they are a 4 x 100 fitment.
