Hydraulic Drives

Does anyone know anything about Hydraulic drives like the Ohlins system used on the 2wd Yamaha R1? Can you buy anthing like that off the shelf?

Has it got a swash plate and motors for driving the wheels?

I'm currently working on a kind of hybrid between a motorbike and a quad, and I was hoping there might be something around that could drive it. Driveshafts or chains don't work very well in this situation as there is too much movement going on. But I want permanent front wheel drive, and on the R1 it's only driving the front wheel some of the time, a chain still drives the rear wheel.
